01What we collect

Free app (desktop video organiser)

The free app requires no account and collects minimal data:

• —Anonymous analytics — feature usage patterns to improve the app (can be disabled).
• —No personal information — no email, name, or account is required.

Members app (premium cloud service)

The members app collects only what is needed to provide the service:

• —Email address — required for account creation and password recovery.
• —Name (optional) — only if you choose to provide it.
• —Payment information — processed by Stripe. We never see your full card number.
• —Uploaded videos — only videos you explicitly choose to upload to your encrypted personal cloud.
• —Video metadata — tags, categories, and organisation data for uploaded content.

02How we protect your data

Free tier security

• —All processing happens locally in your browser.
• —Videos never touch our servers.
• —HTTPS encryption for all account communications.
• —Secure password hashing (bcrypt with salt).

Premium tier security

• —Encryption in transit: TLS 1.3 for all data transfers.
• —Encryption at rest: AES-256 encryption for all stored videos.
• —Zero-knowledge architecture: Your encryption key is derived from your password. We cannot decrypt your videos.
• —AWS infrastructure: Private S3 buckets with no public access.
• —Access controls: Multi-factor authentication available.

03How we use your information

We use your information solely to:

• —Provide and maintain the SiftVid service.
• —Process payments (premium users).
• —Send important service updates and security alerts.
• —Respond to your support requests.
• —Improve the service based on anonymous usage patterns.

We will never: sell your personal information, share your data with advertisers, use your videos for AI training or any other purpose, or send you marketing emails without explicit consent.

04Third-party services

We use a limited number of trusted third-party services:

• —Stripe — payment processing (PCI-DSS compliant).
• —Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud infrastructure and storage.
• —Google Analytics — anonymous website analytics for the free app only (can be disabled).

Each service is bound by their own privacy policies and data protection agreements with us.

05Your rights

You have complete control over your data:

• —Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you.
• —Correction: Update or correct your personal information.
• —Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data.
• —Portability: Export your data in a standard format.

06Data retention

• —Active accounts: Data retained while your account is active.
• —Deleted accounts: All personal data deleted within 30 days.
• —Cloud videos: Permanently deleted within 24 hours of account deletion.
• —Backup copies: Removed from all backup systems within 90 days.

07Free app analytics

Our free video organiser app uses anonymous analytics to help us improve the product. Here is what we collect and why you remain anonymous:

What we collect (anonymous only)

• —Feature usage — which buttons and features you use.
• —Video counts — how many videos you load (not what they are).
• —Session duration — how long you use the app.
• —Device / browser type — desktop vs mobile, Chrome vs Firefox, etc.
• —General location — country or region level only.

How you remain anonymous

• —No personal identifiers — we do not collect your name, email, or any account information.
• —Random client ID — Google Analytics assigns a random ID that cannot be traced back to you.
• —IP anonymisation — your IP address is anonymised before storage.
• —No cross-site tracking — we do not track you across other websites.
• —Aggregated analysis — we only look at aggregate patterns, never individual sessions.

Opting out

• —Click "Opt Out" on the cookie consent banner when you first visit.
• —Use a browser extension such as "Google Analytics Opt-out".
• —Clear your browser's localStorage to reset your preference.

08Cookies & tracking

We use minimal cookies:

• —Essential cookies — required for login and security (cannot be disabled).
• —Analytics cookies — anonymous usage data for the free app (can be disabled).

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or social media tracking pixels.

SiftVid complies with international privacy regulations:

Data is stored on servers in the United States with appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

10Children's privacy

SiftVid is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@siftvid.com.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. For significant changes we will notify you by email at least 30 days before changes take effect and post a prominent notice on our website.
