1. Information We Collect

Free App (Desktop Video Organizer)

The free app requires no account and collects minimal data:

• Anonymous analytics - Feature usage patterns to improve the app (can be disabled)
• No personal information - No email, name, or account required

Members App (Premium Cloud Service)

The members app collects only what's needed to provide the service:

• Email address - Required for account creation and password recovery
• Name (optional) - Only if you choose to provide it
• Payment information - Processed by Stripe. We never see your full card number.
• Uploaded videos - Only videos YOU explicitly choose to upload to Cloud Vault
• Video metadata - Tags, categories, and organization data for uploaded content

2. How We Protect Your Data

Free Tier Security

• All processing happens locally in your browser
• Videos never touch our servers
• HTTPS encryption for all account communications
• Secure password hashing (bcrypt with salt)

Premium Tier Security

• Encryption in transit: TLS 1.3 for all data transfers
• Encryption at rest: AES-256 encryption for all stored videos
• Zero-knowledge architecture: Your encryption key is derived from your password. We can't decrypt your videos.
• AWS Infrastructure: Private S3 buckets with no public access
• Access controls: Multi-factor authentication available

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

• Provide and maintain the SiftVid service
• Process payments (Premium users)
• Send important service updates and security alerts
• Respond to your support requests
• Improve the service based on anonymous usage patterns

We will NEVER:

• Sell your personal information to third parties
• Share your data with advertisers
• Use your videos for AI training or any other purpose
• Send you marketing emails without explicit consent

4. Third-Party Services

We use a limited number of trusted third-party services:

• Stripe - Payment processing (PCI-DSS compliant)
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) - Cloud infrastructure and storage
• Google Analytics - Anonymous website analytics (can be disabled)

Each service is bound by their own privacy policies and data protection agreements with us.

5. Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• Access: Request a copy of all data we have about you
• Correction: Update or correct your personal information
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data
• Portability: Export your data in a standard format

6. Data Retention

• Active accounts: Data retained while your account is active
• Deleted accounts: All personal data deleted within 30 days
• Cloud videos: Permanently deleted within 24 hours of account deletion

7. Free App Analytics

Our free video organizer app uses anonymous analytics to help us improve the product. Here's how it works and why you remain anonymous:

What We Collect (Anonymous Only)

• Feature usage: Which buttons and features you use (e.g., shuffle, filter, sort)
• Video counts: How many videos you load (not what they are or their names)
• Session duration: How long you use the app
• Device/browser type: Desktop vs mobile, Chrome vs Firefox, etc.
• General location: Country/region level only

How You Remain Anonymous

• No personal identifiers: We don't collect your name, email, or any account information
• Random client ID: Google Analytics assigns a random ID that cannot be traced back to you
• IP anonymization: Your IP address is anonymized before storage
• No cross-site tracking: We don't track you across other websites
• Aggregated analysis: We only look at aggregate patterns, never individual sessions

Why We Collect This Data

We use analytics from our free app to:

• Identify which features are most valuable to users
• Find and fix bugs quickly
• Prioritize development of new features
• Improve the premium members app based on real usage patterns
• Keep the free version free by building a sustainable product
